The Mercedes-Benz of Chelmsford team has enjoyed a tantalising glimpse into the potential future of the manufacturer’s compact car range with a special preview of the Concept A-CLASS.

The White Hart Lane retailer welcomed the exciting Concept A-CLASS as part of a futuristic and interactive national tour, which encompasses four major shopping centres and Mercedes-Benz showrooms nationwide, on Monday 3rd October.

The Concept A-CLASS gives a clear indication of the dynamic and sporty styling that customers might expect from the future Mercedes-Benz compact class.

Only stopping at Mercedes-Benz of Chelmsford for a matter of minutes during the nationwide tour of 70 Mercedes-Benz retailers, the Concept A-CLASS was also viewed by lucky customers who really were in the right place, at the right time.

The Concept A-CLASS arrived in a specially constructed, transparent display container mounted on a Mercedes-Benz Atego truck – its journey around the country creating the maximum exposure for the exciting concept car with it being easily visible by pedestrians and other road users.

First unveiled at this year’s Auto Shanghai show, the Concept A-CLASS illustrates how the smallest Mercedes-Benz could fuse the dynamic style first showcased in the F 800 Style Concept together with a pioneering drivetrain.  

Technical highlights include a turbocharged, 210hp BlueEFFICIENCY 4-cylinder petrol engine, a dual clutch transmission and Collision Prevention Assist, which is a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist. This system is a first in the compact class and gives visual and acoustic warnings to avoid rear-end collisions.

As well as a hatchback design, the Concept A-CLASS has full-LED high-performance, daytime running lights and a fully integrated smartphone which can be operated by COMAND Online.
